Flowers, floral compositions, garden scenes, and elements of nature have long been favorite subjects for the arts ... be they in paintings, poetry or song. Visually, they may be observed at least from the time of Egyptian and Roman wall paintings. They play many roles in paintings; sometimes representing the symbolic or spiritual and sometimes being purely decorative ... not to trivialize artists' intent to portray beauty.

"Hearts and Flowers"

In my paintings, I too, have enjoyed employing floral matter as subject, for exactly this wide breadth of purpose they serve. They also provide an opportunity for an expression of creativity in color and textural experimentations.

"After Living Alone"

These subjects are also very accessible to a wide range of viewers. They have the effect of instilling peace and enjoyment. We are often in our most contented state when we are in harmony with nature, or are viewing nature in harmony.
